Closest Supermarket To Clarendon Forest Retreat
I always check this detail when booking accommodation. Whether it be a hut on the beaches of Cambodia, a hostel in Manila or a camping ground in Croatia. We always need the odd essential while travelling. Plus snacks, drinks and smaller meals when eating out can become expensive.
For Clarendon Forest Retreat, the closest supermarket is in Nabiac (15 minutes away), Taree (25 minutes away) or Tuncurry (35 minutes away). So definitely pack everything you think you may need on your getaway.
Families, make sure you pack all the baby wipes, nappies, baby food and sudocrem you'll need for your time!
Bed Quality (you're only there to sleep right?)
King-sized beds in the master bed, invite you in with their plush pillows! This bed was seriously comfy! Super thick doonas and plenty of extra blankets if we needed them.
The cabins themselves are made perfectly for a couples retreat or group getaway. Warm, private and luxurious. The fireplace and Spa have to be my favourite features of the cottage. There's heaps of space between all of the other cabins, making it feel extra private. I could've sat on the deck, in the sun, for days on end. I instantly felt relaxed as soon as we drove through the gates.
Best Time Of Year To Visit
Clarendon Forest Retreat is set up for all seasons. Though in my opinion, it's a true Winter hideaway.
During summer, if you want to cool off, you'll have to share the pool with the other guests staying.
Whilst in winter, you can hide away in your private cabin, with everything you need - fireplace, spa and private setting to enjoy the afternoon sun.
Bush walking, mountain bike trails and horse riding are great any time of year. With pristine beaches and coastal bush walking tracks close by for the warmer weather. So no matter which season you choose to visit the Barrington Coast, you'll find yourself perfectly refreshed.
Price Range For 2 People
There's a huge range of cabin types to choose from. Most hold around 6 adults, (with options from 2 couples to 4 couples) so prices are based on this. Prices are anywhere from $180/night - $650/night, depending on the cabin type, day of the week and time of year.
Negative Feature or Experience
As I was taking shots of the beautiful waterlily flowers in the lake, I slipped on the dirt path. Because I was holding my camera, I ended up putting all of my weight into my knees as I fell onto jagged rocks. This was incredibly painful and ego-bruising. As Curtis helped me up, choking back his gaggles of laughter, I cried as my knees started to bleed and swell. This lead to a not so fun walk around the site for afternoon 'golden hour' shots.
Oh and my camera broke 5 minutes later. So my injuries were pointless and I apologise greatly for the less than satisfactory quality of my photos on this post. I had to use my emergency backup SJCAM SJ5000.
Apart from that (which is obviously no ones fault), Clarendon Forest Retreat was an absolute delight! This incident could have happened anywhere and was not in any way a fault of the Retreat. We had a wonderful experience at Clarendon and I can literally not pass on a negative comment about the Cabins, Staff or Grounds. It was perfect!
Clarendon was peaceful. It encompassed every sense of the word 'retreat'.
No worries, no outside noise, no distractions, no other people and nothing but the sounds of nature to keep us company.
Like I said, as soon as we drove into the gates, we were in relaxation mode. Our deck was so inviting, with sun pouring in, wine in hand and a good book in the other. Topping off the afternoon with a dip in the spa, we were in heaven!
With kangaroos jumping all around our cabin till dark, we watched the sunset over the gum trees. Curtis cooked dinner while I got the fire started. We were warm, cosy and happy, melting into the lounges continuing with our books. The T.V. worked, but didn't suit the tone, so we opted for chocolate and a good chat to top off the night.
The cabins were well-equipped with all utensils and necessities. We stayed in 'The Hideaway' with a natural sandstone fireplace. I would recommend this to any honeymooners or couples looking for a special weekend away. Again, It was perfect.
